Hemorrhoids

Back | Frequently Asked Questions

Now it’s easy to treat what’s so hard to talk about. No hospital stays. No painful surgery or healing process.

Hemorrhoids are one of mankind’s oldest curses and affect over 75% of all human beings at some point in their lives. Most people will suffer needlessly, or will avoid or postpone treatment because of the feared pain and recovery time associated with traditional surgical hemorrhoidectomies. Vein Associates has put an end to painful procedures—making relief from hemorrhoids quick and easy for every patient.

Symptoms

There are 4 degrees of hemorrhoids. Vein Associates treats them all.

An annoying itch or pain in the anal area, or a protruding lump or bleeding during a bowel movement, chances are its hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids may be external (outside the anus) and/or internal (inside the rectum). External hemorrhoids (third and fourth degree) are covered by sensitive skin and bleed only if they rupture. Internal hemorrhoids (first and second degree) on the other hand, are not sensitive, yet protrude and bleed.

First degree - No protrusion, annoying itching or pain in the anal area
Second degree – Hemorrhoid protrudes but reduces spontaneously
Third degree – Hemorrhoid protrudes but reduces with manual reduction
Fourth degree – Permanent protrusion, will not reduce

Treatment

Infrared Coagulation (IRC)

Infrared Coagulation is a safe, effective non-surgical treatment for hemorrhoids. A small probe connects to the area above the hemorrhoid and exposes the tissue to a quick burst of infrared light. This coagulates the veins as they enter the hemorrhoid causing it to shrink and recede.

This procedure is performed in the clinic and usually takes approximately 10 minutes. Most patients require 3 to 5 treatments. However, symptom resolution typically begins with the first.

Prevention

Regular exercise will help you maintain normal body weight and increase blood flow to the veins around the anus. Heavy lifting and straining can also cause hemorrhoids that is why it is extremely important to use the proper techniques when lifting heavy objects. And if the objects are too heavy, get help.
